Got Part I of the Moving accomplished. Everything from the storage shed in VA is now in various locations throughout the house, garage, deck and storage room. My plan was to work on unpacking some of the boxes yesterday after the truck got unloaded (in about a minute) but there was beer. And it was cold. And it needed to be drunk (drank? drinked?). So the rest of the day was spent "celebrating."
The weekend started off pretty good. I got off work early but bfJ had a job to do so I drove up that way and met him to make the drive to VA. We got on the road a tinee bit earlier than we had anticipated. Got to VA by about 8:15 and commenced to drinking BG's beer and eating his food. It WAS after-all a UP3H3 (we call that an Unplanned Pool Party Hash House Harriers) party! Long story. But we got there and had a good time with some good friends. bfJ went to bed earlier than me (cause he is smart like that). I chose to stay up and visit with my friends for a few more beers. Only I was drinking vodka by then! I think I made it to bed about 12:30. I knew I wasn't going to sleep anyhow. bfJ and I were up and on the road about 6:45 AM. I had reserved a Uhaul trailer in addition to the big ole truck and pick-up we already had. Our "appointment" was for 7:30 am. We had to go buy a wrench for the trailer ball so headed off to Home Depot for that. Coffee first though. We got to the Uhaul place about 7:25 for our "appointment." Why you need an "appointment" I have no idea! There were about 4 people already in line when we got there and about 6 more showed up while we were waiting. Two girls were behind the counter and they did not look like they really cared who was there. They were going at the pace of a Walmart greeter. Only they were about 20! One was white and one was black so I could call them the WC and the BC but I'll call them the way I see 'em. One was the BC and the other was the BWA (BITCH with an Attitude).
As we were waiting our turn in line BWA had to go hook up a trailer for another customer. When our turn came up BC was there - BWA was still outside. BC met us with the normal pleasantries - "how can I help you?" Told her we were there for a trailer - had a "reservation" and an "appointment." She said BWA would "hook us up" and to go ahead and pull the truck around. Fortunately (for me) I stayed inside while bfJ went and got the truck. BWA came in and said to the crowd "can I help the next person?" to which I replied that BC said she was going to help us next with the trailer. She did not look AT ALL happy about that. BWA glared at BC and back at me. Said "where is your truck?" suspecting that I was going to have to go move it and buy her some more time. Pointed out that it was backing up to the trailers as we spoke. Her next comment was more of a spit then a question _"what time is your APPOINTMENT?" "Uh - like 5 minutes ago!" I'm not kidding folks - she checked the computer and stormed out the door to the trailers. She's about 5 ft tall and weighs about 15 pounds but she was tossing trailers around like they were peanuts. She yanks one out of the group and rolls it up to the truck. Hooks up the lights and checks them to see if they work. They don't. Not any of them. At all. BWA says she'll be right back. bfJ gets his meter out of the truck and checks for voltage. The truck had plenty. BWA comes out with a dime-store meter. (Dime-store is a place one could shop for things that cost a dime about a million years ago) bfJ holds his meter up and says he's got juice. She holds hers up and says "I'll check with mine!" WHATABITCH! Okay - the fact that bfJ has a meter in his truck would indicate to me that he knows how to use the thing! But BWA starts poking her toy meter into every whole until it sparks. Then she says "I have no reading." Well duh - you just zapped the damn thing B*tch! But I didn't say it. I REALLY wanted to move. She trys a few more pokes and states with MUCH satisfaction "the hitch mechanic will be in at 1:00 - it's probably just a fuse - if you get it fixed let me know - I'm going back inside to help other customers." EEEEeewwwwhhhhh! I just wanted to flick her ass across the parking lot. I could have too.
It didn't take long to figure out that we were not going to be able to "fix" the connection. Basically because there was nothing wrong with it. The Toyota folks checked it out this morning. bfJ had an appointment for his 500 mile checkup. Yes - new truck too. I did go back inside and thank BWA for zapping the electrical system. Told her we wouldn't be needing the trailer and that I would send her the bill. She was NOT happy about that. I REALLY hope that the trailer turns out to be the problem (aside from BWA being MOST of the problem). I posted on their website (for all the good it may do) about the incident. Turns out we didn't need the trailer anyhow. She saved us $200.00 by being a B*TCH!
We got to the storage shed and had plenty of help thanks to gfDoc, son David, friend of his Poppy, "son-in-law" Alec and Betelguese. bfJ has awesome packing skills and got everything into the truck. My wuzband lent me his big ole Penske work truck (bless his heart) and sonD drove it down to NC and back. It took about 2 hours to get it packed and about 45 minutes to get it unpacked! It's going to take about a year to get all the boxes empty!
Dan the builder says we can load up the cabinets. He has most of the closets ready too. I'm hoping to get a lot of it knocked out tonight. I'll keep you posted! Can't wait to see what's in all those boxes!!!!!!!
Damn UHaul people! AHOLES! I HATE THEM! Why are they such a freaking necessity! I wish I coulda helped. Don't ask why. It's miserable moving people. I only had me (way hungover) and my brother (more hungover than me) to help with my last move. I just really do feel for the moving thing. I'm glad you saved money because she was an electrically deficient biotch.
